I started playing music when I was in Third Grade. From the very first time I scrapped those wooden sand blocks together, I KNEW what I was destined to be: A Pro musician. From that point on, I did all I could, to learn as much as I could.
As a kid growing up, I was exposed to only a few musical genres. My dad, listened to only Country, and my mom, well, she was well into The Lawrence Welk Show. It was that TV program, that got me interested in playing more than wood blocks and recorders in school. I had a real, intense interest in playing the trumpet. It wasn't until 6th grade, that I got my first horn. And man, I took to it like a fish to water! In the first two weeks I had it, I ousted the first chair player, and never looked back. I never lost my first chair status, clear through college.
Along the way, I started picking up more and more instruments. My second one, was the guitar. Which I have played now since I was 12. I also learned a bit of flute, trombone, flugelhorn, baritone, piano, and a host of others. I was the Solo Soprano, for the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, in Denver, Colo. I played with the Denver Symphony as a first chair trumpet, when I was in my Senior year of High School.
I attended the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and received my Masters Degree, in Instrumental Music, and acquired my first Teaching Certificate, in 1982.
Since then, I have had several of my own bands, as well as had the opportunity to play with, and even open for, some very well known artists.
Music is my life, my passion, and my one, true love.
It is because of love, that I teach those, who wish to learn to play music. Especially the guitar. Both acoustic and electric.
It is my heart's desire, to bring the real joy, and passion of music to others. To help them learn and grow as musicians. Whether they want to play in a band, or go solo, I can help them achieve their goals.
